Help and FAQ

To cancel CaloriePix, cancel the subscription in the store you bought it from: on iPhone in Settings › your name › Subscriptions, and on Android in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. Apple and Google handle all payments, so their settings are the place to manage it.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone or iPad
  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap the CaloriePix subscription.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to see it.

If you're on a free trial and don't want to be charged, Apple says to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Apple's full guide: Cancel a subscription from Apple.

On Android
  1. Open the Google Play app.
  2. Tap your profile picture at the top right.
  3. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  4. Choose the CaloriePix subscription.
  5. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the steps.

You can also go straight to your Google Play subscriptions. Google's full guide: Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play.

If you can't find CaloriePix in the list, look for Calorie Tracker or Calorie Counter, and check that you're signed in with the Apple Account or Google account you subscribed with.

What happens after I cancel?

Your store's subscription settings show when your access ends. Google, for example, says you can still use a cancelled subscription "for the time you've already paid". After it ends, your diary stays on your phone and the app keeps working with fewer features:

  • iPhone: limited access. You can still open your diary, log food by hand, search foods and scan barcodes. AI photo, label, describe and voice analysis need the subscription.
  • Android: you're back on the free plan described below.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store, under its own rules. On iPhone, request one at reportaproblem.apple.com (Apple's guide). On Android, see Google Play's refund policies.

When does my free trial end, and will I be reminded?

The annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial. The store shows the exact end date and the price before you confirm, and again in your subscription settings. If you don't cancel in time (Apple asks for at least 24 hours before the trial ends), the paid subscription starts automatically and the store charges you.

When you start the trial, you can ask CaloriePix to remind you. If you allow notifications, the app sends one reminder 2 days before the trial ends, which is 5 days after you start a 7-day trial. On iPhone you can turn it on or off at any time in CaloriePix's Settings › Reminders › Remind me before my plan renews. The reminder is a notification from the app. It isn't a purchase and doesn't change your subscription.

Is CaloriePix free?

CaloriePix is free to download. What you can do without paying depends on your phone:

How do I restore my purchase?

Open CaloriePix, tap the person icon at the top of the Today screen to open Settings, and tap Restore purchases under Support. Make sure your phone is signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you subscribed with. There's no CaloriePix account to log in to, because your purchase belongs to your store account.

How do I change units, language or goals?

Weight units. Open Settings (the person icon on the Today screen), then Preferences › Weight unit, and choose Kilograms or Pounds.

Language. CaloriePix follows your phone's language. To use a different language for CaloriePix only:

  • iPhone: open the Settings app, tap Apps, choose CaloriePix and tap Language. On older iOS versions, CaloriePix is listed near the bottom of Settings. If you don't see Language, add the language you want under General › Language & Region first.
  • Android 13 or later: open the Settings app and go to System › Languages › App languages, then choose CaloriePix. The exact menu names vary by phone maker.

Voice logging depends on speech recognition for your language. On Android it's available when the app is set to English.

Goals. In Settings, tap the plan card at the top to open Profile and goal, where you can change your goal weight and weekly pace. Daily targets lets you set your own calories and macros. Changing these after setup is part of the subscription.

How do I delete my data?

Your food diary, weight, goals and saved meals are stored on your phone, and there's no CaloriePix account or cloud copy. You can delete single entries in the app, and deleting the app removes its data from your phone.

A few things to know first:

  • Keep a copy if you want one. Settings › Privacy & data › Export diary (CSV) saves your diary as a spreadsheet file.
  • Backups. Your phone's backups (iCloud or Google) may include a copy of the app's data until those backups are replaced or deleted.
  • Apple Health. Anything CaloriePix wrote to Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app.
  • Usage statistics. CaloriePix measures app usage with Firebase Analytics, which is on by default. Turn it off in Settings › Privacy & data (on iPhone, Usage measurement; on Android, Share usage analytics). Turning it off doesn't erase data already sent, so email us if you'd like it deleted.
  • Purchases. Apple, Google and our purchase provider, RevenueCat, keep subscription records under their own rules.

Privacy in short

  • No account. There's nothing to sign up for.
  • Your diary stays on your phone. Meals, weight and goals are saved on your device.
  • No advertising identifiers and no ads. The current apps don't collect the IDFA or the Android Advertising ID.
  • Photos and descriptions you choose to analyze are sent to Google's Gemini API to return the nutrition estimate.
  • Food search and barcodes. Search text goes to USDA FoodData Central and barcodes to Open Food Facts to look up nutrition.
  • Usage measurement with Firebase Analytics is on by default and can be turned off in Settings at any time. It never includes your meals, photos, body measurements or Health data.
  • Apple Health is optional and on iPhone only. You choose what to share.

Read the full privacy policy.

Is CaloriePix medical advice?

No. CaloriePix gives estimates for everyday tracking. It's meant for adults aged 18 and over. If you're pregnant, have a medical condition or have a history of disordered eating, talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before you set calorie targets.

Does CaloriePix work with Apple Health or Health Connect?

On iPhone, CaloriePix can read your workouts and active energy from Apple Health and write nutrition and workouts to it. You choose what to share in Settings › Apple Health. The Android app doesn't connect to Health Connect.
